The Darkest Dungeon: Treating Affliction with a Compassionate Heart

In the dark world of Darkest Dungeon, treating affliction is a crucial aspect of survival. Amidst the chaos, it's easy to get caught up in the heat of battle and overlook the well-being of your heroes. However, having a compassionate approach towards affliction can make all the difference between victory and defeat.

One of my favorite ways to treat affliction is by utilizing the unique abilities of each hero. My current primary team consists of Auber the Crusader, who always gets 4 combat abilities. His melee attack is devastating when he's pulled to the front lines, while his ranged attack allows for precision strikes from a distance. Additionally, he has two healing abilities that can be used strategically to keep my heroes alive.

Another key member of my team is Strivelyn, the Plague Doctor. When she crits, her Bleeds are incredibly effective in combination with Blights, allowing me to whittle down enemies quickly. What's more impressive about Strivelyn is her ability to withstand stress without crumbling under pressure. Instead of being debuffed at max stress, she often ends up buffing herself to absurd levels.

Ismas, my Highwayman, has also proven himself to be a formidable combatant. His abilities are a valuable addition to my team, and his unpredictability keeps enemies on their toes. Raleigh, my Vestal, is another unsung hero who has saved my bacon more times than I can count. Her targeted heals and party healing have been instrumental in keeping my heroes alive and fighting fit.

Contrary to the advice often found in guides – which suggests that everyone's expendable and should be sacrificed for the greater good – I'm choosing to prioritize keeping my heroes alive as much as possible. By doing so, I've noticed a significant improvement in our overall performance and survivability.
